GREENWOOD - Catherine Elizabeth (McDowell) Marvil passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Marvil was born Nov. 7, 1933 in Delaware, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Elizabeth R. (Schiff) McDowell. Mrs. Marvil enjoyed spending time with family, visiting Lancaster Pa., traveling to South Carolina, find a-word-puzzles, holiday decorating and watching her children and grandchildren play baseball. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William F. McDowell; and her sister, Betty M. Rust. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Everett A. Marvil, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah A. and Marion Thomas, of S.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Everett A. Jr. and Amy Marvil, Robert and Debra Marvil, all of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Stephanie Marvil and Chase Marvil, both of Greenwood, Jennifer Larch and Carrie Thomas, both of S.C.; five great-grandchildren, Conner Marvil and Elizabeth Johnson, both of Greenwood, Kaleb Hinkle, Chloe Hinkle and Brycen Larch, all of S.C.; and a sister, Virginia Thomson of Greenwood. Services were private at her request. Burial was at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
