DOVER — The Downtown Dover Partnership will welcome back the regionally acclaimed Cartoon Christmas Trio to downtown Dover’s historic Schwartz Center on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.

The evening will include jazz renditions of Vince Guaraldi’s “Charlie Brown” Christmas tunes.

At 6:45 p.m., doors will open to a pre-show by a DSU jazz ensemble at the Schwartz Center, a venue that has been closed for several years except for occasional performances. The DDP has again partnered with Delaware State University to open the theater to kick off the holiday season with the trio, a performance directed to diverse audience of all ages.

The Cartoon Christmas Trio celebrates 26 years as the original interpreter of classic holiday cartoon jazz. The trio was started in 1995 by bassist Rob Swanson for the sole purpose of playing music from classic Christmas cartoons, especially the music of Vince Guaraldi, the composer of the “Peanuts” soundtracks. Pianist Jeff Knoettner and drummer Jimmy Coleman, round out the trio.

Since its inception, the trio has played hundreds of shows including live appearances on NBC, ABC, Fox, and NPR. The trio was also honored to perform in Philadelphia’s premiere music venue, The Kimmel Center. For more about the Cartoon Christmas Trio, visit here.

For registered Capital Key cardholders, the DDP is offering an exclusive promotion to earn up to two free tickets to the show with purchase from participating downtown Dover businesses from now until Wednesday. Those who wish to participate should visit here or call 302-678-2940.
