Caroline E. Young, 91

DOVER - Caroline E. Young, died Friday June 12, 2009, in State Street Assisted Living. She was 91. Mrs. Young was born Feb. 17, 1918 in Roaring Branch, Pa., to the late Vance Fleming and Clarissa Wheeler Fleming. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army as a driver in the motor pool. Mrs. Young worked in food management, first for Dover High School and then Wesley College, where she retired in 1997. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. Mrs. Young loved being with kids and people, especially her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Young; her sister, Effie Katz; and her brother, Frank Fleming. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph V. Young and his wife Deborah of Dover, Robert M. Young and his wife Sue of Middletown, and Frank G. Young and his wife Cheryl of Dover; grandchildren, Gregg Young and his wife Kelly of York, Pa., Nicole and Rachel Young, both of Dover, Dylan Young of Middletown, Loree Keeler and her husband John of Henderson, Md., and Carrie Reed of Wyoming; great-grandchildren, Sean and Megan Young of Pennsylvania, Spencer Young of Dover, and David, Jessica, Amanda and Stephanie Keeler, all of Henderson, Md.; sister, Dorothy Womble of Dover; sister-in-law, Janice Fleming of Montoursville, Pa.; nieces, Ruth Hamric of Haymarket, Va., and Pam Seitzer of Allenwood, Pa., whom she raised in their younger years; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
