TANGIER, Va. - Mrs. Carol Sue Pruitt, 76, wife of the late Lorie Quinn Pruitt and a resident of Tangier, Va., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Va. Born July 20, 1935, on Tangier Island, she was a daughter of the late Walter Parks and Mary Sue Pruitt Parks. Carol Sue was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church; a homemaker; a former employee of the Chesapeake House on Tangier; and greatly enjoyed gardening and cooking for family and friends. Survivors include four children, Robin Pruitt and husband Chuck of Tangier, Lorie Pruitt, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Newport News, Va., Kent Pruitt of Cape Charles, Va., and Maria Nichols and husband Tommy of Suffolk, Va.; a sister, Walta Pruitt and her husband Glenwood of Onancock, Va.; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Allman and husband Greg, Mindy Wallace and husband David, Cameron Pruitt and Clare Nichols; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Allman; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Muriel P. Scott; and a half-brother, Walter E. Parks. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. Interment followed in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock.
