LaMonica Lovetri, 104 SMYRNA - Carmela "Nellie" LaMonica Lovetri, born on November 4, 1911 in Norfolk, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2016. She was 104 years old. Nellie was the cherished daughter of the late John Anthony and Angelina English LaMonica. She was the beloved sister of John LaMonica, Andrew LaMonica, Henry LaMonica, Angela ("Gin") Giannini, Josephine Giannini and Anna Barcia, all of whom have predeceased her. Nellie graduated from the Havemeyer School on Greenwich Avenue and was a parishioner of St. Roch's Church. She was a talented seamstress with a golden smile that lit up a room. She enjoyed working outside in her yard, and going to the beach with her grandchildren, as well as playing bingo. For decades, she was a fixture at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home where she volunteered regularly with her sisters, Gin and Anna, and together they made hundreds of crafts over the entire year for the annual Christmas Craft Fair. In addition to her parents and siblings, Nellie joins her loved ones that have gone before her: her husband, Joseph Lovetri; daughter, Nancy Patston; and son, Charles "Chick" Lovetri, all of Greenwich. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, JoAnn Mandarano of Smyrna; six grandchildren, Wendy Patston Del Vecchio (David), of Chesapeake, Va., Guy Patston (Hope) of Orange, Conn., Mary Jo Lovetri Whelan (Rick) of Greenwich, Conn., Charles "Chuckie" Lovetri, Jr. of Greenwich, Conn., Bruce Nygard (Elizabeth) of Dover, Del. and Joseph Nygard (Liz) of Wilmington, Del.; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich, Conn. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes. Please visit Nellie's Life Memorial Webpage and sign her online guestbook at www.parsellfuneralhomes.com.
