Carl 'Rattlesnake' Pinder Jr.
LINKWOOD - Carl "Rattlesnake" Pinder Jr., 82, passsed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Veterans' Hospital in Baltimore.
He was born July 6, 1925, in Linkwood, son of the late Carl and Agie Pinder Sr.
Carl received his early education in the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating from F.D. St. Clair High School, Class of 1943.
In 1945, he enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an Automotive Equipment Operator. After receiving an honorable discharge, he was employed by many trucking companies.
Carl was a member of Bethel AME Church, where he was very active.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruby Pinder; stepdaughter, Pauline Pinkett (James), of Rhodesdale; a sister, Mildred Jones and a brother, James Pinder, both of Linkwood; stepgrandchildren, James Pinkett Jr. (Hurlock), Tenise Pinkett (Cambridge) and Tawanda Cannon (Federalsburg); sisters-in-law, Lena Nichols (Preston) and Mary Hollis (Cambridge); an aunt, Celia Cornish (Aireys); and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, Roscoe Pinder and Jake Hollis and a sister, Mary Frances Tilghman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Bethel AME Church, 623 Pine St., Cambridge. Burial will be Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah. There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
The Henry Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge is handling the arrangements.
