DOVER- Carl F. Brett, Jr. died Jan. 10, 2013. Born in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late Carl and Margaret Brett. He had attended Sacred Heart Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Salesianum High School. He had served in the US Navy from 1961 through 1965 where he was assigned to the Carrier USS Kearsarge. During that time he felt very privileged to have served in the Recovery of 2 Mercury Astronauts, Shira and Cooper. Carl had worked as an accountant with the DuPont Co. at Eagle Run in Glasgow retiring after 22 yrs of service. He later served 5 years with the Bank of New York and retired after 2 years with CitiBank . In the years that followed he traveled throughout the United States and Canada and was especially fond of sailing. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Paul. Carl leaves two sisters, Joan A. Mayhart of Dover and Margaret (Peggy) Smith of Baltimore, Md.; along with his brother, Walter A. Brett of Palm City, Fla.; six nieces and nephews, Shannon Mayhart, Marc Mayhart, Ryan Mayhart, Karen Smith, Jason Smith and Joseph Brett. Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE, where entombment will follow. Life's End Services are by Michael J.
