Caring Hearts Helping Hands donations support nine Kent County schools

Posted

MAGNOLIA — Caring Hearts Helping Hands, Inc., a non-profit organization serving financially challenged working families in Kent County, helped nine Kent County schools with donations received for the back-to-school Heart & Sole program.

This year’s Heart & Sole drive provided 125 children with book bags stuffed with school supplies and a $25 gift card for new shoes. The organization received such an overabundance of supplies that, it was able to donate supplies to nine schools within Smyrna, Capital, Caesar Rodney, Lake Forest and Polytech school districts.

Since CHHH services kids from all over Kent County, the organization did not want to just provide supplies to one school district but wanted to include as many as possible.

Financial donations came from:

  • Masonic Charities of Delaware - $2,000
  • Milford Lions Club - $4,500
  • Kent Sussex Industries, Inc. - $500
  • Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club- $500
  • Orchard Church of Magnolia - $240
  • De. Veterans Post 2 - $100.

In addition to these monetary donations, many companies and individuals brought in supplies including Bayhealth; Del-One FCU, Lakeview Realty, Ray Book and Associates, Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club, Wyoming Moose Lodge and Champion Club Community.

The Holiday Project will start in September which will provide client children with new clothes, games, books, food and shoe gift cards. Wish granters and shoppers are welcome to call for more information; 698-1900, caringheartsde@gmail.com or visit the website chhhde.org

CHHH, staffed by 20 volunteers, operates in a warehouse in Magnolia where clients can shop once a monthly at no charge. The community donates a variety of items which are in our warehouse for clients to shop. Donations include new and gently-used clothing, footwear, accessories, household items, toys, books, cleaning supplies, linens, small appliances, furniture and personal hygiene items.
