MAGNOLIA — Caring Hearts, Helping Hands, a nonprofit helping Kent County families, recently provided backpacks filled with school supplies for 52 families.
“We are thankful for the many community organizations and individual people who contributed school items and monetary donations. Their enthusiastic participation guaranteed our successful Heart and Sole project,” said chair Dawn O’Connell. “Kindergarten through 12th grade, 123 children will be well prepared for school with their book bags and gift certificates for shoes.”
Among the contributors was the CenDel Foundation, which donated over $500 from its Community Impact Fund.
Caring Hearts, Helping Hands delivered supplies to South Dover Elementary School, J.R. McIlvaine Early Childhood Center, Fred Fifer III Middle School, Positive Outcomes Charter School, Towne Point Elementary School, Polytech High School and Lake Forest Elementary School.
The nonprofit’s next project is Christmas gift bags, with a new-client application deadline of Sept. 30.
In this effort, volunteer shoppers and monetary donations are welcome to sponsor 300 children. Donors include the Milford Lions Club and the Wilmington Flower Market.
