All of the top seeds moved through to the semifinals after the first day of the Henlopen Conference wrestling tournament, hosted by Sussex Central High.

Cape Henlopen High and Smyrna High have the most wrestlers remaining with nine apiece throughout the 14 weight classes. Division I state team dual meet champion Sussex Central sent seven wrestlers into the semifinals.

Semifinal action begins today at 11 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for a single session or $10 for today’s two sessions.

The No. 1 overall seeds in each bracket are Caesar Rodney’s Mike Primo at 106 pounds, Milford’s Robbie Rosser (113), CR’s Cam Hayes (120), Sussex Central’s Rashad Stratton (126), CR’s Jackson Dean (132), Cape Henlopen’s Vincent Diego (138), Smyrna’s Chase Archangelo (145), Smyrna’s Nate Bryant (152), Cape’s Cory Lawson (160), Central’s Blake Chambers (170), Indian River’s Zeke Marcozzi (182), Smyrna’s Tony Wuest (195), Central’s Johnny Morris (220) and Cape’s Zach Flores (285).

All will be competing in today’s semifinal round.

Marcozzi captured maybe the most important win of the day — the 128th of his career. That is a new career record for an Indian River wrestler. The Indians also sent 106-pounder Will Rayne and 145-pounder Jared Arlet to the semifinals.

Joining Archangelo, Bryant and Wuest as Smyrna wrestlers in the semifinals are Nick Natarcola (120), Cole Sebastianelli (126), Greg Baum (132), Jack Davis (138), Larsen Wilson (170) and Hunter Moyer (182).

Cape Henlopen’s other six semifinalists include Anthony Caruso (120), Max Norquest (132), Zeke Bean (145), Dante Jacquet (152), Chris Handlin (170) and Brock Maloomian (182). Sussex Central placed Javon Saffold (106), Yony Morales (113), Brandon Bautista (160) and Lucas Hudson (182) in the semis along with its three top seeds.

Dover, Caesar Rodney and Milford each have five wrestlers still alive. The Senators are represented by Tykwan Joyner (120), Tynik Sanders (126), Anthony Fisher (138), Nick Lee (145) and Divine Watkins (152).

Kevin Bowne (113) and Brenden Holder (220) reached the semifinals for CR with its three No. 1 seeds. For Milford, Gavin Garcia (138), Alex Creasey (145), Dominyc Hovington (220) and Bryan Wynes (285) joined Rosser in today’s final rounds.

Lake Forest and Polytech each have three wrestlers in the semifinals. Dean Fleming (152), Michael Galloway (195) and Jordan Springer (285) are there for the Spartans while the Panthers have Avery Mayan (160), Jaden McCove (170) and Vincent Tascione (182) still alive.

Gavin Manning (113) and Jordan James (160) reached the semifinals for Woodbridge. Sussex Tech also has a pair in the semis — Robert Van Pelt (195) and Andrew Hawkins (220).

Delmar and Laurel each have one wrestler remaining.  Isaac O`Neal at 106 pounds for the Wildcats and Woo Fosque at 126 pounds for the Bulldogs.
