Ceasar Rodney High and Cape Henlopen will square off the DIAA Division I state finals today at 6 p.m. at Smyrna after both won their semifinal matches.
The matchup guarantees that a Henlopen Conference team will win the Division I state crown for the 11th straight year.
The third-seeded Riders knocked off No. 2 Salesianum, 37-34, in the semifinals this afternoon. The victory avenged a three-point loss to the Sals last week.
Josh Dyer’s 7-2 decision at 285 pounds gave CR an insurmountable 37-22 lead with two matches left. The Riders forfeited the last two bouts.
CR will be trying to win its first dual-meet state crown since 2018.
Top-seeded Cape Henlopen edged No. 4 Smyrna, 33-31, in its semifinal. Trailing 33-25, the Eagles won the final two individual matches but only by decision to come up short.
The Vikings are in the dual-meet state finals for the first time. They beat CR, 51-23, on Dec. 15.
The Division II dual-meet state semifinals are being held later this afternoon.
