Campaign in Kent County supports local business

DOVER — The new #LiveCentralDE campaign is aiming to encourage support for local businesses and organizations in Kent County through May 30.

The #LiveCentralDE initiative provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to share their appreciation for restaurants, shops, museums and other local areas in Kent County. Activities like dining, shopping and more can be noted on the #LiveCentralDE checklist, which will earn participants a chance to win prizes by following these steps:

  • Download the checklist. The checklist is a pocket-sized foldable booklet that will guide participants through #LiveCentralDE.
  • Participants will visit local areas to check off categories on the list, including "eat central," "outdoors central," "culture central," etc.
  • Mark each location visited, including the date, and share adventures on social media.
  • Complete four #LiveCentralDE categories for a chance to win prize packages from several Kent County locations. Complete eight categories to be entered to win the overall grand prize of an epic staycation at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. Winners will be randomly selected.
  • Upload completed checklists by May 30.

“I think this is a great way to show our pride and support the local community," said Mike Rasmussen, Greater Kent Committee member and part owner of Painted Stave Distilling in Smyrna. "Kent County is a place filled with hidden gems and places that pour their heart into their businesses, and if we can support them a little extra in this season, I believe we will truly make a difference.”

Business owners looking to participate in the #LiveCentralDE campaign can go online for more information.

The campaign was launched by the Greater Kent Committee in partnership with the Delaware Tourism Office and several other leading organizations.
