Just like it did in the District I tournament, Camden-Wyoming’s Senior League softball all-stars have battled back to reach the East finals.
The Delaware State champions beat New Jersey, 14-12, this morning to advance to the regional finals in Worcester, Mass.
Camden-Wyoming will take a three-game winning streak into today’s 5 p.m. championship game. It will face either Pennsylvania or Maryland.
CW, which is now 4-3 in the tourney, stayed alive in the regional with a 14-6 victory over New York and then a 10-7 victory over Connecticut.
Camden-Wyoming trailed 12-5 in the fourth against New Jersey but rallied for the win, sparked by a grand smal home run from Ciara Maldonado.
The East champion earns a spot in the World Series being played at Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana.
In the District I tournament, Camden-Wyoming won three games in a row to come out of the losers’ bracket and win the championship.
In the Major League tournament in Bristol, Conn., Adeline Lutz singled home Caroline Holston with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Georgetown a dramatic 3-2 victory over New York this afternoon.
Georgetown plays again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the right to play in Thursday’s championship game.
On Tuesday, New York tied the contest at 2-2 with a run in the top of the sixth before Georgetown answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
At the Junior League softball East Regional, MOT fell to Pennsylvania, 11-3, in the semifinals to end up one game short of the regional finals.
