HARTLY — A 36-year-old Dover man was arrested on a burglary charge after an alleged incident at a residence on Loxley Lane Tuesday night, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

According to police, Jorge Valladares kicked open the door of an acquaintance’s residence, causing it to break and glass to fly into the house, hitting her and her children. He also allegedly grabbed the woman by the arms and pushed her into a wall before he fled the residence, police said. While conducting their investigation, troopers learned Mr. Valladares had allegedly stolen money from the female earlier during the day, but the theft was not reported to the police, Cpl. Pepper said.

Approximately two hours after the incident occurred, police said, Mr. Valladares returned to the residence and was arrested.

The female and her children did not require medical treatment.

Mr. Valladares was charged with first-degree burglary, theft under $1,500 endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), criminal mischief, and offensive touching. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on his own recognizance.
