Burd: How will state support EV mandate?

Posted

Jane Brady was correct in her assessment of the EV mandate (“EV mandates not justified by technology or reality"). It would be nice to know how many of the Delaware legislators including the governor and cabinet members own EVs.

Jane Brady didn’t mention that the state is buying EVs and does not even have chargers to charge the vehicles. So now we have state employees waiting in lines at Wawas or wherever to charge these state vehicles and getting paid for doing nothing.

The state is just now putting out a bid for installing chargers for these vehicles. What will happen during tourist season when all the visitors are waiting in lines to charge up? Where will the state get enough energy to run all these cars and power all the 10,000-plus new homes that are now planned to be built in the next couple of years? Wind and solar won’t hack it.

How much more will I have to pay in electric bill to cover the cost of the roughly $1 billion-plus to put up wind turbines in the ocean?
