Parker, Jr., 55 LAUREL - Brooks Melvin Parker, Jr. of Laurel, known fondly as "Mel", departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the age of 55. He was born on May 19, 1958 in Seaford, the son of the late Brooks Melvin Parker, Sr. and Eleanor West Parker. Mel received his formal education at the Laurel School District and graduated in the class of 1976. He was formerly employed for 11 years at Temco Builders in Salisbury. He was a devoted husband who loved his wife, his family, and others. He was married to Adriene Belle Parker, his wife of 15 years whom he married September 2, 1998. He was a very strong soft spoken gentleman who loved helping people whenever he could. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Adrienne; his children, step-children, and children he raised as his own, Shaunda Harrison and her husband, Shawn of Newark, Larry Horsey and his wife, Kieshea, Shawn Horsey, Tyesia Palmer and her husband William, Ebony DuPont all of Seaford, Brooks M. Parker, III, Tesha Horsey, Tiffany Horsey, Patrick Belle and Tyler Belle all of Laurel; 23 grandchildren; his mother & father-in-law, Dola & Larry Stewart of Laurel; cousins who were like his brothers, Keith Smith of Laurel, Kelby Smith, of Sharptown, Md., Dereke Bungy of Frederick, Md., Everett Smith, Jr. of Delmar; cousins who were like his sisters, Nancy Custis and Janet Davis both of Laurel; an aunt, Carolyn Tokley of New Jersey; a niece, Shannon Adote and her husband, Solomon; a nephew, Anthony Parker; sisters-in-law, Sherita Belle of Georgetown, Vanette Belle of Laurel; brothers-in-law, Lavanion Belle of Laurel, Dwayne Griffin of Delmar; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Parker. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at United Deliverance Bible Center in Laurel. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Framptom Funeral Home.
