Bridgeville woman charged with assaulting trooper

BRIDGEVILLE — Tiffany Webb, 28, of Bridgeville, was charged after she allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted a trooper Saturday, authorities said.

Delaware State Police Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said that, at approximately 1:34 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Abbys Way and Valene Drive after receiving a call of a dark-colored Honda Civic being driven recklessly in the neighborhood.

Troopers found the car parked in the driveway of a residence in the 11000 block of Valene Drive and spoke with its owner, Ms. Webb, at the home’s front door.

Ms. Webb had two active warrants for her arrest and tried to close the door while an officer was speaking with her, Cpl. DeMalto said. When the trooper attempted to take her into custody, she physically resisted until a second trooper arrived, he added.

While Ms. Webb was being handcuffed, she scratched, grabbed and twisted the trooper’s hand, causing a minor injury, police said.

The suspect was charged with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with force or violence. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $6,000 secured bond.
