BRIDGEVILLE – Delaware State Police report the arrest of a 34-year-old Bridgeville man who authorities allege assaulted his girlfriend in a domestic incident.

Ivray L. Sauls

Ivray L. Sauls Jr was charged with: Strangulation, Assault 3rd Degree, and Terroristic Threatening, said state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

According to state police, the incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m., Friday, April 26 and reported Sunday at a residence in the 11000 block of Abbys Way, Bridgeville.

State police investigation revealed Ivray Sauls Jr. confronted his 57-year-old girlfriend about their relationship in an aggressive and threatening manner. After she refused to speak to him, Sauls became upset and slammed his hands down on the kitchen counter and grasped the victim by the throat which restricted her breathing, Sgt. Bratz said.

After the woman managed to get free, Sauls followed her and grabbed her neck again and struck her with a closed fist multiple times, according to Sgt. Bratz.

Sauls was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $10,000 secured bond.
