DOVER — Current U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester plans to file to run in the upcoming election Thursday, a spokesman said tonight.
The decision had been expected, since spokesman Andrew Donnelly said last month that Rep. Blunt Rochester would file. No time frame was provided, at the time, though.
Now Rep. Blunt Rochester, a Democrat, joins a race that already included Republican Lee Murphy and Libertarian Cody McNutt.
Mr. Murphy lost in the 2020 election to Rep. Blunt Rochester by a margin of 57.6% to 40.2%.
The general election is Nov. 8, with a July 12 deadline to file. Primaries will be held Sept. 13.
