DOVER — After being reprimanded by Little League officials, the three remaining teams in the Big League baseball East Regional will be allowed to finish out the tournament tonight.

Pennsylvania (2-1) will face New Jersey (3-1) at 5 p.m. at Dover Little League with the winner facing Kent County’s District I (3-0) in the championship game immediately afterward. If District I loses, a second title game will be played on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The East champion advances to the Big League World Series in Easley, S.C.

The continuation of the tourney in Little League’s division for 16-18 year olds was left in some doubt after a fight broke out during the 10th inning of the District I-Pennsylvania game on Tuesday.

Kent County won the contest, 9-6, when play resumed after a lengthy delay. New Jersey then beat New York, 9-1, but the losers’ bracket finals between New Jersey and Pennsylvania — originally slated for late Tuesday evening — was postponed while officials at Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pa. sorted things out.

New Jersey coaches thought both District I and Pennsylvania should be disqualified with New Jersey declared the winner.

In a conference call with all three team managers on Tuesday afternoon, Little League officials reprimanded them for their teams’ behavior. No coaches will be allowed outside the dugouts during games — other than to make lineup changes — for the rest of the tournament.

The players will coach first and third base during the contest.
