Betty Jean Finnell

OKEECHOBEE - Betty Jean Finnell of Okeechobee passed away Mar. 21, 2012 in Baltimore. She was born Aug. 25, 1936 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late C. Henry and Leona (Lee) Jeanette Slise McCoy. She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Buckhead Ridge, and recently became an Instructor with Weight Watchers which she was a member for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, socializing with her friends, and spending time with her dog, Misty. She won awards in archery, loved to cook and could create fashion designs on her Singer. In her youth she sang on the radio in Coshocton and in her later years she sang with the church choir which brought her great joy. She embraced God and we said the Lords Prayer nightly together. Mrs. Finnell was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Finnell; her daughter, Cindy; her son, Stephen; her sisters, Peggy and Carol. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Finnell of Baltimore and Kathy O'Steen and son-in-law Carl of Texas; grandchildren, Emilia and Ellisa; daughter-in-law Donna; her sister, Sandy, and her companion Robert Hare. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Visitation will be Monday, Mar. 26, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 27, 2012 at Ortona Cemetery with Pastor John Garrison officiating.
