Betty Jean DeVaughn Mahan

REHOBETH, Md. - Betty Jean DeVaughn Mahan, 85 died on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia on February 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late George E. DeVaughn and Gladys R. Jackson DeVaughn. Mrs. Mahans husband was the late Philip R. Mahan who died in 2012. Mrs. Mahan had been a manager of the former Sears Catalog store in Crisfield. She had also worked as a hairdresser and Real Estate Agent. Mrs. Mahan was a member of Greenhill Church of the Brethren where she was the financial secretary for many years. She was also active in the Grandparents Association of Holly Grove Christian School in Westover where she served as treasurer. Mrs. Mahan is survived by three daughters, Kathy Johnson (Stan) of Allen, Linda White (Jay) of Eden and Brenda Henderson, (Mike) of Princess Anne; six grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Nicole Baker (Chris), Leslie White, Erica Henderson and Kaylin Henderson; and her beloved dog, Mollie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A late brother was George DeVaughn and a late sister was Doris McCormick. A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Greenhill Church of the Brethren in Westover. Friends called at the Church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Rev. Doug Potvin officiated. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne. Arrangements are by Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
