GREENWOOD - Bertha R. Harris, died at her home surrounded by her friends on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Bertha was born October 3, 1923, in West Chester, Pa., the daughter of Parke R. and Bertha Roberts Rhodewalt. She grew up in Oxford, Pa., moving to Aberdeen Proving Ground during the war years where she worked as a typist. Near the end of the war she attended Traphagen School of Fashion Art in New York City. After four years in New York she returned to Oxford and went back to work at Aberdeen, this time as a illustrator. The balance of her career was either in art or in illustration. Bertha was preceded in death of her husband Curtis B. Harris in 2003 after 37 ½ years of marriage. After his death she moved to Greenwood Retirement Community, where she lived until her death. She was survived by a sister and her husband, Ann and Wayne Baldwin of Lander, Wyo.; a step-son, Curtis Harris of Germantown, Md.; and a step-daughter, Becky Prado of El Paso, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950. Interment will be in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, PA.
