Beatrice M. Childress

SMYRNA-Beatrice M. Childress passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at home. Mrs. Childress was born October 1, 1934 in Dover, Delaware to the late John H. Mosley and Anna Miller Mosley, and a family of 10 children. She worked in the cafeteria for William Henry Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1991, and had also worked at the Blue Hen Mall Food Court for 4 years, and at the Kent Convalescence Nursing home for 5 years. Mrs. Childress enjoyed country music, reading, cooking and was a great caregiver and friend. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas C. Childress, Sr, 2007, her 5 children, Lonel, Leon, Francis, Patsy Ann and Beatrice Lorraine Carney. She is survived by sisters, Dorothy Carney and Doris Durham; loving nephew, Clarence Coker and his fiancé Bobbi; nieces, Pat Reed and her husband James, Evelyn and Wanda Carney, Winnie Miller and other nieces; loving in laws, Ennis Schaffer, John and Kathy Schaffer and John Schaffer, Jr; special friends, Edna Boutwell and her husband Mike, Ben Jones and Ruth Bently; longtime friend, Winnie Seeney; caring friend, Shelia Stover and her parents; and her loving and caring nurse, Margaret Aro and her husband Roland. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sunday, January, 25, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Immanuel Union United Methodist Cemetery, Cheswold. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
