CAMDEN - Barry Lee Helbert, CPCU, CLU, FLMI, died after a long courageous battle with leukemia and a bone marrow transplant on Aug. 30, 2012, at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. He was the widower of Barbara A. (Crouch) Helbert who died in 2006 and the partner and best friend of Elaine E. Crowell, with whom he resided. Born December 13, 1940 in Laureldale, he was a son of the late Irvin Franklin and Ferne Alice (Christ) Helbert. Barry was a 1958 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and attended Albright College. He was employed as Senior Vice President for Systems-CNA Insurance Company, Chicago, Ill. for 40 years, retiring in 2001. Barry was a Mason with Beverly Riverside Lodge #107 and a member of Scottish Rite. He was a golfer and a fine wood worker. Barry is also survived by his three daughters, Cheryl A. Helbert and Lee Ann Helbert, both of Park Forest, Ill. and Robyn A., wife of Dirk R. Avila of Crete, Ill.; and their daughter, Zoe Lena Avila. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Sandra H. (Helbert), wife of Garry E. Street of Muhlenberg Township. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at noon in Barclay Farms Clubhouse, 1 Paynters Way (Rt. 10), Camden, DE. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Leukemia Society, 555 N.
