Nichols Hanson, 75 HARRINGTON - Barbara Ann Nichols Hanson died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del. Mrs. Hanson was born in Ridgely, Md. the daughter of the late Alec Rufus and Mary Virginia Nichols. She grew up on the family farm in Concord, Md. After graduation from high school, she worked at Choptank Electric for a number of years and then later worked for the Harrington School District as both a teachers aid and nurses aid, retiring in 1998. Barbara also helped her husband Franklin on the farm. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and was currently serving as their president.. She was a member of the "Red Hatters" and the Farm Bureau. She also enjoyed collecting antiques. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Doris and Leonard Monath and a sister-in-law Lauretta Nichols. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Walter Franklin Hanson; a son, Ronnie Franklin Hanson; a brother, Wallace Nichols as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at the Prospect United Methodist Church, 5183 Vernon Road, Harrington. DE. where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Concord, Md. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either United Methodist Women of Prospect United Methodist Church, C/O Jean Miller, 310 Dorman Street, Harrington, DE 19952 or to the Concord United Methodist Church, c/o Chris Robbinson, P.O.
