NEW CASTLE - Barbara Jean Johnson Gross was born May 3, 1942 in Dover, Del. to Martha Johnson and the late Eugene Brown. She was called to her eternal rest on Tues., July 9, 2013 in her home in New Castle, Del. She was educated in the public school system in Dover. In her youth, she was a member of Union Baptist Church in Dover and First Pilgrim Baptist Church in Camden, Del. When she moved to New Castle, she became a part of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, New Castle where she served as an Usher, a Church Nurse, and sang in the choir. In addition to her father, Eugene and her step father, Ralph Johnson she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, Sr.; her brother, Kenneth; and her sister, Loretta. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Martha Johnson; three sons, Raymond, Jr., Roman and Andre; two daughters, Betty and Melissa (Troy); two brothers, Rudolph (Rose), Edward; two sisters, Doris Price (Perry Sr.) and Christine Osei Tutu; many grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Visitation hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m., service begins at 11 a.m. today, July 17, 2013, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 3079 New Castle Ave, New Castle, DE.
