HARTLY - Barbara Elaine Travis passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, in Bayhealth Hospital while battling cancer. Mrs. Travis was born on April 17, 1942, in Peekskill, N.Y. to the late Phillipi Rinaldi and Helen M. Eichler. Mrs. Travis was a dedicated wife and mother. She retired from Kmart, where she worked for 20 plus years. After she retired, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed weekly outings with her friend Barbara Melvin and also looked forward to the monthly dinners with her retired Kmart gang. When she would be relaxing, you would never find her without a Suduko book in hand. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William D. Travis, 1992; her brothers, Donald and David Rinaldi; and her sister, Helen Eichler. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Irish of Hartly, Christine Travis of Felton; grandchildren, Matthew Travis, John Howerin, BriAnna Travis and Stephanie Erwin; and a great-granddaughter, Lainey Re` Travis. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday Oct. 6, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720. Letters of condolence may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
