CHESTERTOWN - Barbara Ann Simpler died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, Md. Barbara A. Simpler was born July 24, 1944 in Baltimore, Md. the daughter of the late Bernard Folker and Mary Breuning Folker. Mrs. Simpler was a 1962 graduate of Sudlersville High School. She married Gary Simpler in 1964 and the two began a family together. Mrs. Simpler began working for Dr. Harry Ross after High School, then went to work for Sears and Roebuck and a few years later worked for D.T. Swing Cannery in Price, Md. Once the children were born she stayed at home to raise the family and worked at home, operating a commercial poultry business. Her most recent employment was with PNC Bank where she retired after 10 years in 2012. Mrs. Simpler was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, member of Double Creek Homemakers Club and she attended Modern Maturity Center in Dover, Del. on a regular basis. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, playing cards with friends, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Simpler of Chestertown, Md.; one son, Gary Keith Simpler and wife Sue of Derwood, Md.; one daughter, Beverly Clarke and husband Mike of Chestertown, Md.; two brothers, Bernard Folker and wife Shirley of Marydel, Md., Charles Folker of Clayton, Del.; and six grandchildren, Stephanie Simpler of Hillsboro, Ore., Stephen Simpler of Gwynn, Mich., Ian McKinley of Derwood, Md., Aubrey Clarke, Laurel Clarke, and Reid Clarke all of Chestertown, Md. and many dear friends. A visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd Chestertown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Chestertown, MD following the visitation. Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery following the Mass.
