MILFORD - Barbara Ann Baker, of Milford, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at home. She was 64.
Mrs. Baker was born in Ridley Park, Pa., to the late Robert D. and Ruth Ann (Mower) Downes.
She began her career in the Milford School District working as a secretary to the guidance counselor at Milford High School. She then went to Lulu Ross Elementary School, Milford, where she worked for several years for the school's principal and then transferred to Evelyn I. Morris in Lincoln as a senior secretary working until her retirement in 2004.
Mrs. Baker enjoyed reading and laying out in the sun.
She also enjoyed spending time at her uncle's cottage in Fenwick Island.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-brother, Robert Downes.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Albert "Butch" Baker; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Michael Lawley of Milford; a grandson, Michael Lawley Jr.; her step-mother, Phyllis Downes of Greenwood; her step-father, William Spencer of Milford; a sister, Diana Hudson and her husband David of Mississippi; a niece, Felicia Van Horn and her husband Karl of Mississippi; a great-niece, Whitney Van Horn; and a brother-in-law J.D. Mills of Milford.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Milford Community Cemetery, U.S. 113, Milford. There will be no viewing.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
