MILLSBORO - Don D. Zakrociemski, the 37-year-old Millsboro man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery in February, has been extradited and charged, Delaware State Police report.

Don D. Zakrociemski

Zakrociemski faces charges of: Attempted to Commit Robbery Second Degree; Reckless Endanger First Degree; Assault Third Degree and Criminal Mischief, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe.

Zakrociemski was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $11,500 secured bond.

The incident occurred on Feb. 21, 2019.

Investigation revealed a 34-year-old Millsboro man was walking in the area of the Long Neck Harris Teeter when he came upon an acquaintance, later identified as Zakrociemski.

State police said the victim needed to go to the M&T Bank to cash a check and Zakrociemski offered him a ride.  Zakrociemski drove the victim to the M&T Bank in Millsboro and the victim cashed his check.  Upon leaving the bank, the victim realized that he was being driven in the opposite direction, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Zakrociemski went to a private lane off John J. Williams Highway, parked the vehicle and demanded the money. A struggle ensued and the victim got out of the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

Investigation revealed Zakrociemski followed the victim onto private property in his vehicle and attempted to strike the man with the vehicle, cpl. Jaffe said.

The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident and was not struck by the vehicle.

Prior to police arrival, Zakrociemski fled the scene.

On April 3, Zakrociemski was apprehended in DeKalb County, Georgia. He was extradited back to Delaware on April 17.
