Delmarva Christian basketball player Sierra Troyer was voted this week’s Athlete of the Week. The junior tallied 22 points in the Royals’ 70-64 loss to Woodbridge in the DIAA girls’ basketball state quarterfinals.
A resident of Milford, she also scored her 1,000th career point as Delmarva Christian posted the program’s first two state tourney victories. After dealing with an injury during the regular season, Troyer averaged 15.3 points, six rebounds, 2.2 assists, two steals and one block during the state tourney while shooting 40 percent from three-point range and 91 percent from the foul line.
“Sierra is an amazing player, person, and student in the classroom,” said Delmarva Christian coach Jedidiah Roach. “Shes a coach’s dream. She listens and also is a great leader.”
