Polytech High basketball player Sierra Henry was voted this week’s State News Athlete of the Week.
The freshman helped the Panthers to a pair of wins by collecting 37 points, 11 steals, seven rebounds and five assists in the two games. Henry hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime in a victory over Dover.
For the season, Henry is averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 steals, 3.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
“Sierra is a confident and aggressive player who is up to taking on any challenge — she shows no fear,” said Polytech coach Kyle Taylor. “Her energy and abilities can change the dynamic of the game. She knows how to turn the switch and help change momentum when needed. She has made big shots and stops early in her high school career that will only help her grow in becoming a champion athlete.”
