Laurel High football player Kylse Wilson was voted the Delaware State News Athlete of the Week.
The senior running back ran for 274 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 42-0 win over Woodbridge on Friday night. He scored on runs of one, 34 and 11 yards in the contest to give him 14 TDs for the season.
Laurel coach Joey Jones said Wilson has done a good job of stepping into the role left open with the graduation of standout Javier White. Wilson has run for 705 yards for the unbeaten Bulldogs (5-0).
“He’s had just a tremendous year so far,” said Jones. “He came up big for us at times last year. But this year he’s really taken charge of not only his own performance but the team as a whole. He’s been fun to be around. He’s matured a lot in the past year.
“He was waiting his turn. Once Javier graduated, he’s really just taken the torch and he’s been rolling with it.”
