Posted

Polytech High boys’ basketball player Dorell Little was voted this week’s State News Athlete of the Week.

The junior netted a total of 52 points in two wins for the Panthers. The victories gave Polytech sole possession of first place in the Henlopen North.

For the season, Little is averaging 20.4 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks per game.

“Dorell has been playing well for us this season,” said Polytech coach John Pierce. “I love the fact that he performs just as well in the classroom. Looking forward to how the rest of the season unfolds and, if you ever get a chance to meet him, he’s also a well-rounded young man.”

The Athlete of the Week is nominated and chosen by our readers. The nominating period starts at 2 p.m. on Friday and ends at noon on Monday. A voting period follows from 5 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Wednesday.

This process is performed exclusively online. When nominating an athlete, please include name, school and sport as well as a photo and brief description of why he or she deserves that week’s honor.
