Dover High basketball player Denim Perkins was voted the State News Athlete of the Week.
The junior guard helped the Senators to a pair of Henlopen North wins last week. In two games, Perkins totaled 35 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists.
Perkins netted 20 points as Dover rallied to beat Cape Henlopen and had a career-high 11 rebounds in another game. For the season, he’s averaging 17 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.
Voted a team captain this year, Perkins followed it up by netting a career-high 32 points in a loss to Polytech this week.
“He worked hard this off season and summer,” said Dover coach Stephen Wilson. “All his hard work and dedication is paying off but it’s just beginning for him. He is hard working in the classroom as well.”
