Lake Forest High baseball catcher Adam Schiff was voted this week’s Athlete of the Week.

The senior had a big triple in the Spartans’ 7-4 state-tournament win over Sussex Central before adding two hits and scoring the lone run in the Spartans’ second-round loss to Cape Henlopen.

An honorable mention All-State selection, Schiff batted .458 this season with 10 extra-base hits among his 27 total hits. He also had 25 RBI, scored 21 runs, was 7-for-7 on stolen-base attempts and was voted the Henlopen South Player of the Year.

For his career, Schiff collected 53 RBI and scored 40 runs.

“Adam is is one of the hardest workers we’ve had in the program over my 18 years,” said Lake Forest coach Corey Wyatt. “He’s humble, he’s tough, and he’s a great teammate. He has been another coach on the field for us. He is also near the top of his class academically.”

The Athlete of the Week is nominated and chosen by our readers. The nominating period starts at 2 p.m. on Friday and ends at noon on Monday. A voting period follows from 5 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Wednesday.
