DOVER — A Delaware representative is no longer facing a misdemeanor assault charge, the state said this week.
According to the Department of Justice, a charge against Rep. Andria Bennett for third-degree assault from late last year has been dropped after a request by the victim.
Delaware State Police said in December that troopers were called to a residence on St. Jones Avenue in Dover on Dec. 13 around 2:08 a.m. for reports of a domestic dispute. After an investigation, police arrested Rep. Bennett, a Dover Democrat they identified as being 49 years old at the time, on a misdemeanor assault charge.
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on her own recognizance.
Rep. Bennett holds the 32nd District seat that previously belonged to her husband, Brad. First elected in 2012, she was reelected in November with 63% of the vote.
