Arthur Lee Mayes

DOVER - Arthur Lee Mayes passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at home. Mr. Mayes was born Dec. 16, 1939 to the late Willis and Rose Mayes. He retired from the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He received a degree in accounting and worked for the State of Delaware Office of Finance. Mr. Mayes enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a NASCAR fan. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Raye Frances Mayes; and his sister, Bernice Welch, Lock Haven, Pa. He is survived by special loved one, Mabel Turner; son, Michael Scott Mayes of Dover; daughter, Sandi Lee Miller of Chambersburg, Pa.; Mable's son, Matthew; and special Pop Pop to Mathew Jr.; siblings Paul Mayes, Willard Mayes, Minnie Mann, Deanna Ball, and Cheryl McCombs all of the Lock Haven Pa. area; grandchildren, Kimberly Mayes Dover, and Hope Miller, Chambersburg, Pa.. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that all contributions be made to Delaware Hospice at 911 S. Dupont Hwy Dover, De 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
