DOVER - An arson at the Dover YMCA Thursday is under investigation, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.
The incident at 1137 S. State Street was reported at 4:48 p.m., police said. Arriving officers were told by Dover Fire Department personnel who said that a fire had been intentionally set in the bathroom, Cpl. Schmid said.
According to Cpl. Schmid a bathroom stall and nearby walls/ceilings were damaged , but the fire was contained to the bathroom. Cpl. Schmid said damaged was initially estimated at $2,500 but could change after repairs and estimates.
City of Dover Fire Marshal’s Office and Dover Police’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating.
No suspect description is being released at this time as detectives are still reviewing surveillance, police said.
