DOVER — A 21-year-old man was arrested after a shooting late Monday afternoon in the 100 block of Mannering Drive, Delaware State Police said.
Spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said troopers were called to the scene at approximately 4:51 p.m., and told that a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound had been transported by EMS to a hospital.
Police said further investigation revealed that David I. Brown, 21, of Dover, had arrived at the Mannering Drive residence, entered the house without permission, assaulted a 19-year-old female resident, and broke down a bedroom door where the victim was located.
Mr. Brown and a man engaged in a physical altercation which continued outside of the residence, police said. While outside, the man was shot and Mr. Brown fled the scene prior to police arrival, authorities said.
David I. BrownThe man suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower torso. He was being treated at a local area hospital.
Troopers along with Probation and Parole responded to Mr. Brown’s residence where he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Charges include first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, home invasion, offensive touching, and criminal mischief.
He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna on $75,500 cash only bond.
