DOVER — Kyree Robinson, 23, of Dover, was arrested Wednesday on murder and other related charges following a shooting in May 2021, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

According to authorities, on May 15, at approximately 5:42 p.m., troopers responded to Uplift Barber Shop, 1534 Governors Ave., Dover, after reports of a shooting. An investigation determined that Javon D. Jones, 23, of Dover, was a patron in the shop when an unknown male entered through the front door and fired multiple shots at him, Cpl. DeMalto said. Mr. Jones was struck in the upper torso, and the shooter fled on foot, he added.

Mr. Jones was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Robinson was recently determined to be a suspect in the case, and police obtained warrants for his arrest, Cpl. DeMalto said.

He was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and issued a $1,070,000 cash bond.

Robinson, who was incarcerated at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, Wilmington, at the time of his arraignment, remains in the custody there.
