WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden has announced his intent to appoint leaders to the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The board will advance the goal of the HBCU initiative, established by the Carter administration, to increase the capacity of such schools to provide the highest quality education and continue serving as engines of opportunity.
In 2021, President Biden appointed Dr. Tony Allen, president of Delaware State University, as the group’s chair, and Dr. Glenda B. Glover, president of Tennessee State University, as its vice chair. In February, he appointed Dr. Dietra Trent as executive director.
