Rays put on the brink of World Series flop by Brewers’ historic 8-run, 2-out surge

SUMMARY: Tampa Bay’s first World Series game at Tropicana Field in 18 years turned into a record-setter: for Milwaukee Brewers batters and Rays pitchers. SUMMARY: The WNBA has moved Game 6 of the finals between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries to a 12:30 p.m. tipoff Thursday at the home area of the Atlanta Hawks so that the NBA can keep its previously scheduled primetime contest that day. The WNBA worked with the NBA to move the game to State Farm Arena. That is where Games 3 and 4 of the championship series were played. The only way the leagues could make it work was to play the early afternoon game. The Hawks have a home game that night against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the tip of that game was moved back an hour.

BBO--WORLD SERIES-TROPICANA FIELD

Quirky Tropicana Field isn’t a pretty ballpark, but the Rays love their home

SUMMARY: With its concrete exterior, massive, sloping dome and cavernous indoor atmosphere, Tropicana Field possesses little of the aesthetic beauty and charm associated with baseball’s most celebrated stadiums. But the Tampa Bay Rays love their quirky ballpark, especially after being forced out for a season because of destruction from Hurricane Milton. A sellout crowd of more than 40,000 towel-waving, cowbell-ringing fans will welcome the Rays back for Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night after a pair of gut-wrenching, one-run losses in Milwaukee. The Brewers are two wins away from the franchise’s first World Series title. The Rays need to win four of five games to secure their first championship in their 29th season.

Ballon d’Or ‘winners’ published by mistake hours before men’s award

SUMMARY: The organizer of the Ballon d’Or event has mistakenly published multiple “winners” of the men’s award on its website hours before the ceremony. One announcement read in part “Harry Kane wins 2026 Ballon d’Or.” Similar articles gave the same treatment to Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé. It turns out the organizer France Football prepared many announcements to be ready for when the winner is announced but they were accidentally posted well ahead of the gala at The London Palladium.

No. 5 Notre Dame not making excuses about clock glitch following 1st loss of the season at BYU

SUMMARY: Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman wasted not a single second blaming a clock glitch for his team’s loss at BYU. Instead, he spent the bye week focused on mistakes to get the Fighting Irish back on track. While Big 12 officials acknowledged last week that the refs erred by not putting 1 second back on the clock, giving Notre Dame another play to keep its 15-game winning streak alive. Instead, they allowed time to expire and the Irish wound up losing 28-24 to the then eighth-ranked Cougars.
