FBC--TRADITION GLIMPSE-RIVALRY TROPHIES

DESCRIPTION: MINNEAPOLIS — Paul Bunyan’s Axe currently resides at the Minnesota football facility, after the Gophers took back the storied hardware by beating the Badgers in Wisconsin last year in the most-played rivalry in college football history. The two border-state teams originally played for the Slab of Bacon, a strange-but-true trophy that went missing for decades only to resurface in Wisconsin in the mid-1990s. No sport in the world can match the richness and quirkiness of these rituals around inanimate objects, whether it’s a red axe, a bronze pig, a little brown jug or an old oaken bucket. OLY--ENHANCED GAMES-PUBLIC TRADING

Enhanced Games to offer performance enhancers ... and stock ... to the public

SUMMARY: The Enhanced Games is going public in two ways — with a new listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange and also by offering a direct-to-consumer business focused on performance products. The announcement comes six months ahead of the swimming, track and weightlifting event the company will hold in Las Vegas. Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley and swimmer Ben Proud are among the handful of athletes who have signed up to compete for $250,000 first prizes. Enhanced says athletes will not be drug tested in the way Olympic athletes are, but will be “mandated” to adhere to medical profiling to ensure their health prior to the competition.

FBC--T25-OHIO ST-MICHIGAN PREVIEW

No. 1 Ohio State and Ryan Day desperately seeking victory against 15th-ranked Michigan in The Game

SUMMARY: Ryan Day needs to win The Game, perhaps more than anyone on the Big House turf. Defending champion and top-ranked Ohio State would not get knocked out of the College Football Playoff if they lose a fifth straight game to rival and 15th-ranked Michigan on Saturday. But another loss would would haunt Day for at least another year. Day is 1-4 against the Wolverines and his mark in one of the greatest rivalries in sports has been a blemish on what has been a remarkable career that includes winning about 90% of games over the last seven-plus seasons.

OLY--MILAN CORTINA-FLAME LIGHTING

Under a cloud, the Olympic flame begins its journey to the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics

SUMMARY: The Olympic flame began its journey Wednesday for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games after bad weather forced officials to move the traditional lighting from ancient Olympia to a nearby museum. With skies overcast, organizers relied on a backup flame sparked during a sunny rehearsal. Greek rower Petros Gaidatzis opened the torch relay, which will travel through Greece before a Dec. 4 handover to Italy. The flame will then start a 63-day, 12,000-kilometer route across all 110 Italian provinces ahead of the Feb. 6–22 Games, set to feature 116 medal events, ski mountaineering’s debut and the return of NHL players.

FBC--RIVALRY WEEK

More flag-planting celebrations could be in store for college football’s rivalry week

SUMMARY: Florida State could have a giant Seminoles flag on standby in the Swamp on Saturday. The Seminoles surely remember how last year’s game against Florida ended in Tallahassee: with the Gators planting their flag on the FSU logo at midfield. Payback could be on tap when the in-state rivals meet with little at stake for the second consecutive year. Defensive tackle Caleb Banks says “we can’t let nobody come in our house and do that, honestly.” Teams across the country surely feel the same after flag plantings wreaked havoc during rivalry week in 2024. Michigan and Ohio State players scuffled, and similar scenes played out in Arizona, Florida and North Carolina.

FBN--INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Smith-Njigba and Garrett put two NFL records in jeopardy before Thanksgiving

SUMMARY: Jaxon Smith-Njigba has already set a record for the most prolific receiving season in Seattle history. He’s on track to be the NFL’s first 2,000-yard receiver. Cleveland’s Myles Garrett is also nearing a record, closing in on the single-season sacks record with 13 in the last four games. On Sunday, Smith-Njigba had 167 yards against Tennessee, bringing his total to 1,313 yards this season. Meanwhile, Garrett’s 18 sacks so far are the most by a player in a team’s first 11 games. Both players are on a record-setting pace this season.

BKN--LAKERS-LUKA’S BIG NIGHT

Doncic criticizes the NBA Cup court, but praises Lakers for support in late-game skirmish with Dunn

SUMMARY: Luka Doncic was not pleased by the special NBA Cup court at the Los Angeles Lakers’ downtown arena, calling it “slippery” and “dangerous.” The Slovenian superstar was much happier about the Lakers’ togetherness and toughness after Jaxson Hayes stuck up for him in his latest confrontation with nemesis Kris Dunn. He also plans to pay Hayes’ fine for the resulting technical foul. Doncic had 43 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds during a 135-118 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, but he didn’t feel safe on the new yellow court.

FBH--FLORIDA GIRLS FLAG

TAMPA, Fla. — Girls flag football is rapidly spreading in American high schools, helped along by millions of dollars from benefactors like Nike and the NFL. But for Florida, it’s nothing new. Girls have been playing flag football here for over 20 years, and recent participation numbers in the state have over 10,000 girls across four divisions and more than 450 schools. As girls flag football spreads across the country, Florida both begs and answers the question: How big can this sport get?
