Brissett fills in for Murray again as Cardinals end 5-game skid with 27-17 victory over Cowboys

SUMMARY: Jacoby Brissett threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score filling in again for Kyler Murray, and the Arizona Cardinals stopped a five-game losing streak with a 27-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Brissett made his third consecutive start after the week began with expectations of Murray returning from a foot injury coming off the team’s open week. Instead, the Cardinals pivoted to Brissett. Arizona won for just the second time in the past 18 games when Murray didn’t take at least five snaps or sat out entirely. The Cowboys couldn’t build on the momentum of Sam Williams’ blocked punt that was recovered in the end zone by Marshawn Kneeland.

Kyler Murray is inactive for Cardinals at Cowboys, delaying QB’s return from foot injury

FBC--LOUISIANA GOVERNOR-LSU-WHAT TO KNOW

What to know about Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry’s intervention in LSU football

SUMMARY: Louisiana State University lost its football coach and athletic director amid criticism from Gov. Jeff Landry. Last Wednesday, Landry said that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward would not be selecting a replacement football coach Brian Kelly, who was fired four seasons into a 10-year, $100 million contract. LSU cut ties with Woodward the next day. Landry has also warned that the state could be on the hook to pay for Kelly’s $54 million buyout, though traditionally private donors and nonprofits have covered the costs. Landry’s allies said Louisiana governors have long sought to influence the football team, while critics said he was damaging the university’s reputation and would make it harder to secure a replacement coach.

Quinn began his video conference by admitting it was a mistake to leave Daniels in the game in the fourth quarter Sunday night. The Commanders were down 38-7 to Seattle in a game they’d eventually lose 38-14, and Daniels had already missed time this season with knee and hamstring problems.
