CAR--NASCAR-IN THE PITS
A late caution robs Hamlin of NASCAR title in probable final year of championship format
SUMMARY: Denny Hamlin has faced another heartbreaking loss in his pursuit of a NASCAR championship. On Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, he was leading with three laps to go when a caution caused by William Byron changed everything. The race went into overtime, and Kyle Larson’s strategic pit stop allowed him to finish ahead of Hamlin, claiming his second title. Hamlin’s defeat marks his sixth missed opportunity for a championship. NASCAR is considering changing its winner-take-all format because of fan dissatisfaction. Hamlin, with 60 career wins, remains uncertain about the future of his racing career.

SOC--CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW
Champions League table shows rich elite on top ahead of PSG-Bayern and Liverpool-Real Madrid clashes
SUMMARY: Europe’s top teams appear to have finally come to grips with the new-look Champions League. The standings look very different heading into the fourth round of games compared to one year ago, when the new 36-team format debuted and the results were less predictable. The top end of the table before Tuesday’s games is a list of unbeaten, high-earning teams led by Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. They meet Tuesday at Parc des Princes. A second blockbuster is fifth-place Real Madrid at 10th-place Liverpool. It opens the door slightly for teams outside the big five leagues to catch up. Sporting Lisbon is tied for 11th.

BKC--TIPOFF-TEAMS TO WATCH
These teams that failed to make the 2025 NCAA Tournament could be dangerous this season
SUMMARY: One way to rebuild a team that failed to make the NCAA Tournament is to add a bunch of transfers with March Madness experience at their former schools. That’s the route Will Wade took once he took over NC State’s program. The Wolfpack added nine Division I transfers. Wade noted that six of his newcomers came from schools that won NCAA Tournament games last season. NC State heads our list of potentially dangerous teams that failed to reach the NCAA Tournament last season.

FBN--ON FOOTBALL-WIDE OPEN
NFL is wide open through Week 9 with no dominant teams
SUMMARY: The Colts became mistake-prone. The Packers wasted opportunities. The Lions got pushed around. The Chiefs fell out of a playoff spot. Both conference leaders looked ordinary Sunday and other top teams had rough games. The NFL looks more wide open every week. Even some winning teams struggled along the way to victory. Week 9 demonstrated again why there are no dominant teams in the NFL this season. The better teams have shown flaws. The bad teams are awful. There’s plenty of parity overall.
