BBO--WORLD SERIES-BLUE JAYS-DOUBLED UP
Double trouble: Barger gets caught off second base as Blue Jays’ rally fizzles in Game 6 of Series
SUMMARY: With the Toronto Blue Jays trying to mount a ninth-inning rally, Addison Barger got doubled off second base to end Game 6 of the World Series. Barger says he was “being too aggressive,” looking to score the tying run in a 3-1 defeat against the Los Angeles Dodgers that sent the Series to a deciding Game 7 on Saturday. Barger initially broke toward third on Andrés Giménez’s line drive to shallow left field. He says it was “kind of a bad read” and he was surprised Kiké Hernández was able to catch the ball on a fly and turn it into a game-ending double play.

BBO--WORLD SERIES-GAME 7
Blue Jays’ Max Scherzer gets second World Series Game 7 start after Dodgers force winner-take-all
SUMMARY: Max Scherzer is set to start a winner-take-all World Series Game 7 for the second time. His Toronto Blue Jays face the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. The Dodgers aim to become the first team to win consecutive titles since the Yankees’ streak from 1998 to 2000. Tyler Glasnow is expected to start for Los Angeles, but Shohei Ohtani might also be an option as an opener. Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, hopes to win his third World Series ring after previous titles with Washington and Texas. Toronto will play a World Series Game 7 for the first time and is looking for its third championship to go with back-to-back crowns in 1992 and ’93.

Lakers’ Doncic has third 40-point game to start season, matching Wilt Chamberlain’s mark
SUMMARY: Luka Doncic reaching the 40-point mark in a game is becoming a common theme through the early weeks of this season. Doncic, returning after missing three games with injuries, had 44 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 117-112 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night, topping 40 for his third straight game to start the season. New-look Dodgers lineup only produces 4 hits but they come at right time as LA forces Game 7
SUMMARY: A new-look lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers only produced four hits in Game 6, but three of them came in a three-run rally off Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman. Tommy Edman hit a one-out double off Gausman in the third inning and scored on Will Smith’s two-out double into the left field corner. One batter later, Mookie Betts delivered the Dodgers’ biggest hit of the night, grounding a two-run single between third base and shortstop. The RBIs were his first of the World Series. Two-way star Shohei Ohtani had the only other hit, a double in the eighth.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says Shohei Ohtani a possibility to start Game 7 of World Series
SUMMARY: Shohei Ohtani might start Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday. Tyler Glasnow might pitch on back-to-back days. For Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, the only certainty is that Yoshinobu Yamamoto won’t pitch. The Dodgers survived a wild ninth inning to hold off the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in Game 6, forcing the winner-take-all showdown Saturday night. Dodgers force World Series to decisive Game 7 by holding off Blue Jays 3-1 as Yamamoto wins again
SUMMARY: Yoshinobu Yamamoto beat Toronto for the second time in a week, slumping Mookie Betts hit a two-run single in a three-run third inning and the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers held off the Blue Jays 3-1 to force the World Series to a decisive Game 7. Yamamoto was not quite as sharp as in his Game 2 four-hitter. He lasted six innings and allowed an RBI single in the third by George Springer, who returned after missing two games with an injury to his right side. Rookie relievers Justin Wrobleski and Roki Sasaki combined for six outs before starter Tyler Glasnow came out of the bullpen to escape a ninth-inning jam and rescue the Dodgers.

Coen says it was a non-contact injury and that the team is “still assessing” whether Hunter will be able to play again this season. FBN--DOLPHINS-GRIER
Miami Dolphins and General Manager Chris Grier agree to part ways
SUMMARY: The Miami Dolphins and Chris Grier have agreed to part ways, ending his 10-year tenure as general manager. The decision comes after Miami fell to 2-7 on the season following Thursday night’s 28-6 rout against the Baltimore Ravens. During Grier’s tenure — he has been with the organization since 2000, and general manager since 2016 — the Dolphins recorded five winning seasons and three playoff appearances but failed to win a postseason game. Miami’s 25-year playoff win drought remains the longest active streak in the NFL. Champ Kelly will be Miami’s interim general manager the rest of the season.

FBN--RAVENS-FINE
NFL fines the Baltimore Ravens $100,000 over the inaccurate injury report involving Lamar Jackson
SUMMARY: The Baltimore Ravens have been fined $100,000 by the NFL for incorrectly listing star quarterback Lamar Jackson as a full participant in practice on Oct. 24. The league disclosed the fine for violating the injury report policy Friday. A week earlier, Baltimore listed Jackson as a full participant and said he was questionable for that week’s game against Chicago. Then a day later, the Ravens ruled the two-time MVP out for that game and said he’d actually been limited in practice the previous day. Baltimore said the reason for the mix-up was that he’d participated in the entire practice but wasn’t taking starter reps, which made him limited according to league policy.

FBC--LSU-ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
LSU interim AD Verge Ausberry says the school’s athletic department ‘is not broken’
SUMMARY: Newly named LSU interim athletic director Verge Ausberry says the athletic department is ‘not broken’ in the wake of his predecessor Scott Woodward’s abrupt departure this week. Woodward stepped down on Thursday night, four days after football coach Brian Kelly had been fired and one day after Landry asserted that Woodward would not select Kelly’s successor. LSU Board of Supervisors chairman Scott Ballard says Woodward’s decision to step down was a “mutual agreement” between him and the board. Ballard says self-generated athletic department funds or private donations will be used to a financial settlement with Woodward that is still being negotiated. Board member John Carmouche says Ausberry has “full authority” to lead the search for the next football coach.
