BKW--T25-WOMEN’S POLL AT 50

DESCRIPTION: The Top 25 poll has served as a roadmap to everyone engaging with women’s college basketball as the sport continues to grow in popularity. It wasn’t always the behemoth with storied programs like UConn, South Carolina and USC dominating. A half-century ago, tiny Immaculata won the first three national titles and then Delta State three-peated before the likes of Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion and Rutgers started a slow trend of bigger programs becoming the backbone of a fledgling sport the nation is still learning to appreciate. The Top 25 was there, six years before the first NCAA Tournament, as a roadmap to it all. The upcoming season will be the 50th with the rankings setting the table.
