Anne F. Gravelle, 89
Anne Gravelle died peacefully on February, 17, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, surrounded by close loved ones and family members.
Anne was born in Tamaqua, Pa. on May 4, 1931. She attended Tamaqua High School where she developed a love of animals, reading, music and dancing. After graduating from nursing school in 1952, she began working as a nurse and married William A. Gravelle.
In 1955, she and her young family moved to Dover, Delaware where her husband worked at the Dover Air Force Base. Anne worked as a nurse at Kent General Hospital and would later work as a preschool teacher at Whatcoat United Methodist Church. She moved to Lakewood Ranch, Florida in 2016, to be close to family. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice and strong faith, Anne was a member of various church choirs throughout her lifetime. An avid reader and lifelong swimmer, Anne was happiest when she was relaxing with a book at the beach or by the pool. She'll always be remembered for her sense of humor, her long and thoughtful letters to loved ones, and the way she cared for those around her. Whether you were her patient, her family member, or her friend, Anne always took a moment to really understand you and make you feel special.
Anne was the daughter of the late Emily H. Frehn and Clemis A. Frehn. She is survived by her children, William Gravelle (Joan), Leslie Pike (Greg); and son-in-law, Shawn Coen. A devoted "Nana," she is also survived by grandchildren, Erin Engle (Richard), Elisabeth Mericle (Christopher), Lindsey Pike, David Gravelle (Lauren), Brett Pike (Nathalia), Drew Coen, John Gravelle (Khrystina) and Cory Pike; as well as great-grandchildren, Ricky, Logan, Elise, and Anna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Gravelle; and daughter, Deborah G. Coen.

A celebration of life gathering for family is planned for early summer.
